VFW Post 3137 Email Header

Fellow Post 3137 Members,

Whether it has been Decoration Day or Memorial Day, every year since 1868 our great nation has paused on this holiday to remember and honor the men and women that have died while serving in the US Military.  As we recognize these fallen comrades, let us also continue to remember and do everything possible, to honor and support our active duty, reserve, and guard members, and their families, that are currently serving in our country's Armed Forces.  As our VFW Mission Statement states, "Honor the Dead While Helping the Living".

However you might choose to celebrate this Memorial Day as we battle a different enemy in the Covid 19 virus Pandemic, if you know or are aware of a fellow veteran that may be alone, please take the time to reach out and check in on them.  This is also an opportune time to explain or remind our younger Americans of the real meaning of Memorial Day and why we honor and celebrate these brave men and women that served honorably and have gone before us. It will be a great honor for them and you.

May our fallen comrades rest in peace and may God watch over and protect our Armed Forces members that are away from their families serving their country and protecting our freedom as we gather together to celebrate this sacred holiday.

Yours in Comradeship,

Buddy Gillam
